B.A. Biblical Studies

At The Master’s University, we hold the Word of God to be sufficient in all things, including its own interpretation. To best equip our students for their intended fields, ministry or otherwise, we teach them how to approach the Word: through studying Greek and Hebrew as well as the historical and cultural context of each passage. Our students also take classes in theology, biblical counseling, and individual books of Scripture. All of our faculty and staff affirm our full doctrinal statement, which has remained essentially unchanged since our founding.

One-Year Bible Program

This unique program offers students the opportunity to dive into the heart of the TMU experience. Spanning two or three semesters, students complete ten Biblical Studies classes (30 units total) and also experience life in the dorms, participate in chapel, and are engaged full time in the life-on-life discipleship and academic excellence that TMU offers. Upon completion, graduates receive The Master’s Institute Award of Achievement as well as TMU alumni status.

Agribusiness

This program builds on TMU’s solid business core with specialized courses in Agricultural Management, Agricultural Products, and Agricultural Policy. It culminates with an on-site study at two agricultural sites for firsthand experience, empowering graduates in their pursuit of a career in the business of agriculture.

Biblical Counseling

Students are trained in the art of biblical soul care. This program prepares counselors to meet the needs of people with the all-sufficient resources that God provides, equipping them to bring biblical guidance and hope to sufferers in their local churches. Biblical counseling programs at other schools typically teach an integration model, blending cherry-picked biblical principles with secular psychology. In contrast, we teach our students to understand why Scripture is sufficient to meet the needs of individuals and why Scripture alone offers people true hope.

Master of Divinity

Designed to produce a well-rounded pastor and preacher, the Master of Divinity program prepares you to handle God’s Word precisely and shepherd God’s people effectively.

Diploma of Theology

Designed to produce a well-rounded pastor and preacher, the Diploma of Theology offers the same training as the Master of Divinity—preparing you to handle God’s Word precisely and shepherd God’s people effectively​. The program is offered to older applicants who do not have an undergraduate education.

Doctor of Philosophy

The Doctor of Philosophy program equips pastor-theologians for faithful scholarship in biblical and theological studies.

Master of Theology (Th.M)

A focused opportunity in advanced biblical scholarship, the Master of Theology program equips you for leadership in pastoral ministry, pastoral training, and academia.

Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA)

The Master of Healthcare Administration program offers a fully online graduate degree designed to equip individuals to become administrators, executives, and leaders across diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and more. This program provides a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare industry’s distinct challenges and opportunities, all grounded in a solid biblical foundation.

5-Year B.A./M.Div. Cooperative TMUS

A special track that allows students to obtain a B.A. in Biblical Studies from The Master’s University and an M.Div. from The Master’s Seminary in five years.

Biblical Languages

The Biblical Languages emphasis consists of three years of biblical Greek and one year of Hebrew. While receiving a broad education in Scripture, theology, and Bible backgrounds, these students also dive deeply into the Bible’s original languages, allowing them to engage directly with the original text without the buffer of an English translation. This emphasis is primarily designed for students pursuing seminary or a future in Bible translation. However, anyone desiring to understand Scripture more accurately through knowledge of Greek and Hebrew will benefit greatly from this program.

Christian Education

The Christian Education emphasis is designed for students pursuing future ministry in education, whether that be through a local church, a public or private school, or a university. It is also valuable for students interested in missionary work. Our students study the principles of Christian education, and they put these principles into practice through ministry internships.

Global Studies

For students called to missions and missionary work abroad. This program focuses on understanding cross-cultural ministry and is designed for those who desire to serve in a full-time intercultural capacity. Students will be required to study language, church planting, cultural anthropology, and missionary life while living on the mission field for one summer. Each student will also serve in an ethnic church similar to the culture in which they desire to minister.

Theology

The Theology emphasis is a comprehensive study of biblical doctrine, from theology proper to eschatology. In addition to their deep study of systematic theology, our students are also equipped to understand the differences between Christianity and other world views, religions, and philosophies. This emphasis is designed for students pursuing seminary education and future service as a pastor or teacher.

Women’s Ministries Certificate of Achievement

The Master’s University has developed a Women’s Ministries Certificate of Achievement available to TMU undergraduate students as well as lay people in the community. In offering this program, the School of Biblical Studies desires to train women for ministry in accordance with the model set by Titus 2, where older women are called to train younger women. This certificate is designed around the belief that Christian character is foundational to any kind of training and equipping for ministry, whether in the local church, in parachurch organizations, or in missions.

B.A. or B.S. Biological Science

This top-ranked major is for students called to careers in health, medicine, sciences or research. Rooted in an unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ and the inerrant Word of God, our world-class faculty and dedicated administration prepare each student’s heart and mind for a life of eternal influence. Our students are uniquely equipped to be an exemplary testimony for Christ in any scientific discipline and profession. The small class sizes and top-ranked liberal arts curriculum are under the leadership of top faculty, allowing students to achieve an unparalleled level of teacher-student mentorship and a world-class level of scholarship. Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine

The pre-veterinary medicine/animal science emphasis prepares students for admission to veterinary school. Gaining admission to veterinary schools is highly competitive—more so even than medical schools. Therefore, students need to approach their undergraduate studies with this in mind.

TMS Bachelor of Theology

Designed to produce a well-rounded pastor and preacher, the Bachelor of Theology offers the same training as the Master of Divinity—preparing you to handle God’s Word precisely and shepherd God’s people effectively​. The program is offered to applicants with some college credit, but no undergraduate degree.

Cellular & Molecular Biology

Students in this program enjoy some of the most challenging courses in the biology major. Graduates may move into in-demand and rapidly growing careers in medicine and health, scientific research, forensic science, drug manufacture and design, and other fields in a wide array of industries.

Doctor of Ministry

The Doctor of Ministry in Expository Preaching is a modular program designed to refine the faithful pastor’s ability to teach and preach the Word of God.

Natural History/Environmental Biology

This program is ideal for students who thrive in the great outdoors and love wildlife. Environmental biologists work to preserve and restore the environment by identifying problems related to pollution, habitat destruction, or other environmental issues, and then providing solutions. Studies in environmental biology focus mainly on lab courses and fieldwork experiences, which prepare our students for technical, research, or consultant positions in the field. Environmental biologists are in high demand in California.

Life Science Education

This program prepares students for careers in teaching subjects including biology, physiology, and botany. Graduates may pursue careers in public or private sector education, or they may choose to pursue graduate degrees and/or research careers.

Paleontology

This program provides a hands-on and thoroughly biblical education in the science of fossils. Starting from a confident affirmation of the Bible’s worldview (including six-day creation), we teach out students to use Scripture as their solid foundation as they wrestle with the exciting and difficult questions posed by paleontology. Including research trips, internships, and hands-on experience, our students also participate in research projects alongside their professors.

Pre-Medical

With a 95% medical schools acceptance rate, this competitive program is designed for students seeking to attend medical school or receive further training for other health professions. We equip our students to score well on the MCAT and to excel in medical school. More importantly, our graduates are trained to be exemplary witnesses to Christ in their future endeavors through their intellectual rigor, real-world career preparation, and uncompromising biblical worldview.

Pre-Dentistry

Designed for students who desire to attend dental school. With local internships, and with mentorship and guidance from faculty advisors to excel on the DAT, graduates are ready to go on to the next step in their medical careers, defend their faith as equipped and intellectual leaders, and break new ground in their fields.

Pre-Allied Health

This top-ranked program is taught by healthcare experts and physical therapists and includes competitive internship opportunities. Students are prepared for careers in medical, clinical, surgical, or therapeutic technician and specialist roles, as well as specializations like radiography and nuclear medicine. Students may also go on to graduate programs in physical therapy (D.P.T.), occupational therapy (O.T.), physician assistance (PA-C), podiatric medicine (D.P.M.), chiropractic medicine (D.C.), or other allied health roles.

Pre-Nursing

The Pre-Nursing emphasis offers preparation primarily for BS-BSN or BS-MSN post-bachelor degree programs. This program is ideal for the student who wishes to complete select nursing requirements, Bible courses, and general education requirements at TMU before transferring to a different institution to complete upper-division nursing classes and labs.

B.A. Classical Liberal Arts

The innovative CLA program is explicitly designed to train students in both the content and pedagogy of the classical liberal arts to prepare them for teaching positions in the rapidly growing Classical Christian Education movement, and to pursue graduate work in the humanities. Be trained in the content of the Western Classical heritage beginning with Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Enlightenment — and continuing to the present day in history, literature, art, philosophy, and theology.

B.A. Entrepreneurship

Innovation with purpose includes creating and controlling organizations that foster disciple-making efforts, facilitate the workplace witness, and generate resources for the mission of Christ through the local church. We equip marketplace ministers who initiate and grow ventures that advance the gospel and empower them to reflect the character of Christ in the workplace. Students will work closely with faculty advisors, volunteer business mentors, and faith-based investment networks. Studies culminate with a capstone business plan “shark-tank” style presentation done to a panel of kingdom-minded executives and investors.

Cinema & Digital Arts

The top-ranked CDA program teams students with industry professionals, giving them the opportunity to create productions on par with the entertainment industry. We are also distinct in our philosophy, training the next generation of artists to recognize God as the ultimate creative force and to reflect this knowledge in what (and how) they create. The program has created award-winning film productions that have received industry notoriety, with a location in Southern California that provides access to industry professionals in various arenas of media, securing noted guest speakers and prime internships.

B.A. Communication

The top-ranked communication major uniquely equips students to not only excel in their chosen focus but also do so in a way that will glorify God. One of the essential elements of Christianity is evangelism, and a degree in Communication prepares students with some of the best skills to reach the most significant number of people — whether supporting Christian organizations or working in a secular work environment. Our classrooms are taught by working professionals who engage students with hands-on experience as well as working as a part of a team. There is a synergy between all emphases, as required in the professional world. Each year they work together to create projects like short films and graphic novels, which can later be used in their professional portfolios. No graduate of the Communication department leaves unprepared.

Co-curricular program

TMU Theatre Arts is a co-curricular program housed in the Communication Department. It is designed to give training and expression in the performing arts alongside any major at the University. Participants and contributors come from all disciplines, dorms, and interests at TMU. Our program offers classes such as Theatre Arts, Theatre Production, and Introduction to Acting, allowing any students to receive formal, credited training in the performing arts.

We instill students with a biblical philosophy of the performing arts while giving them experience in the craft of acting and/or the many aspects of production. We emphasize the process as much as the product, which enables us to have an others-focused theatre program. This mindset pervades everything we do as we strive together to serve with our varied gifts. Many of our graduates have continued on to jobs in the arts industry or teaching, and some have pursued graduate school. We love seeing the various ways they use their skills and become gospel witnesses.

Creative Writing & Publishing

This CWP program is designed for students who are passionate about content creation across the changing and expanding spectrum of communicative media, including fiction and non-fiction, photography, videography, journalism, and podcasting. CWP students choose from a wide variety of courses that provide opportunities to develop their unique creative interests, and they graduate with content creation skills that are increasingly in-demand across diverse industries. Students graduate with not just a degree, but also with a full portfolio of creative work to showcase to employers and clients.

Journalism

Journalism students must be characterized by a love for and a commitment to truth and accuracy. By participating in TMU’s student newspaper (“The Mane”) and completing internships with local and national news agencies and outlets who have partnered with TMU, students are placed into the world of the working journalist. Students may choose to specialize in business, finance, politics or other areas of interest.

Speech Communication

Students are equipped to think, write, and speak with clarity and effectiveness. We stress communication skills at both the interpersonal and public levels while also helping students develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving strategies. This emphasis is ideal for students seeking careers as speech teachers, managers, salespeople, public relations practitioners, lawyers, or customer service representatives. Graduates are experts in persuading effectively and ethically, using both verbal and nonverbal skills that allow them to connect with their audiences. As followers of Christ who have been called to make disciples, our students are equipped to speak authoritatively, confidently, and winsomely about the Master. And while they are here, our students are themselves discipled by faculty who are working professionals in a variety of creative and communicative fields, and who can equip them with both vocational wisdom and knowledge of how to integrate their faith into their future careers.

B.A. English

The English major offers a primarily traditional curriculum. The philosophy and practice of the faculty is to emphasize works of recognized and enduring merit in the canon of English, American, and World literature. At the same time, they remain receptive to the inclusion of new or neglected works that are compatible with the English department’s philosophy. Several courses examine critical theory, and faculty members employ a variety of methodologies in literary analysis, while favoring a historical and exegetical approach. Students may choose to obtain a major or a minor in English or work toward qualifying for the California Single Subject Teaching Credential in English. Graduates with an English major have opportunities for careers in a diversity of fields: teaching, missions, journalism, publishing, insurance, law, paralegal work, banking, personnel management, public relations, and government service.

B.A. History

The B.A. in History equips students with an understanding of the complex factors that have produced present-day civilizations, as well as helping students become responsible Christian citizens. With an emphasis on systematic research and analysis, students receive instruction in preparation for careers in education, business, government service, public relations, or library work. Their development also prepares them for graduate study in law, theology, history, or political science.

B.A Interdisciplinary Studies

The B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies is a major for visionaries, creatives, and entrepreneurs. It’s for students who want to be well-rounded and in the highest demand to employers who rely on people trained in multiple areas. Students can design their own major for maximum effectiveness. By specializing in three areas of choice, students become the leader and thinker the modern workforce demands. Students complete 3 blocks: for the first 2 blocks, students choose areas of study from 14 different emphases options. The third block includes the internship program and a capstone project.

B.S. Kinesiology

This top-ranked program is for students called to the fast-moving and in-demand careers in physical therapy, sport science, or similar fields. This established program offers an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and biblical truth. Students participate in practical athletic training with Master’s athletes, as well as take hands-on courses in functional anatomy, corrective exercise, and assessment techniques. Alongside these courses, each student participates in at least one internship before graduation, leading to careers in Allied Health, coaching, firefighting, physical training, teaching, and more.

Exercise & Sport Science

This program prepares students for careers and specializations in sports nutrition, advanced prevention and care of athletic injuries, reconditioning of athletic injuries, primary physical assessment, and similar areas. This program trains a person’s knowledge in activity skills, educational methods, scientific factors in body movement analysis, sports injury care, and allied health careers.

Pre-Physical Therapy

This program prepares students to enter graduate programs in physical therapy (D.P.T.), occupational therapy (O.T.), physician assistance (PA-C), podiatric medicine (D.P.M.), chiropractic medicine (D.C.), and other allied health programs. Because of the strong preparation they receive here, 95% of our graduates who apply to allied health graduate schools are accepted. Alumni have also pursued M.D., D.O., MOT, PA, and MSN degrees.

B.A. Liberal Studies

With a nearly 100% job placement rate, the B.A. in Liberal Studies degree can be taken as an accelerated 4 year B.A and teaching credential, or as a unique Liberal Studies degree. The purpose of The Master’s University Teaching Credential Programs is to equip and empower effective educators, developing Christ-like, professional practitioners who are called to ensure life-changing learning for all students. TMU has two California-approved teacher preparation programs, one leading to the Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (elementary level) and one leading to the Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential (secondary level). Each program is a two-semester program (Fall start) and includes structured fieldwork and student teaching.

B.A. Marketing Media

This pioneering major accelerates students to be leaders in the world of marketing. Graduates have cutting edge, hands-on knowledge of both marketing and technical skills. Students develop innovative marketing, business, and creative skillsets for in-demand careers with skillsets in visual design, video editing, social media marketing, and copy-editing, as well as management skillsets in business statistics, consumer behavior, market segmentation, and research.

B.A. Mathematics

Ranked a top-10 mathematics program. From investment banking to data science, engineering to teaching, software engineering, economics, and more, STEM careers are in rapid growth and high demand. Our small class sizes are optimal for detailed, personal, and focused training in each area. Students majoring in Mathematics at TMU are challenged and strengthened incalculably in their studies to go into any path and thrive.

Applied Mathematics

This program provides the framework and foundation through computational tools, discrete mathematics, and complex-valued functions for students pursuing graduate study or for students pursuing careers in applied mathematics, statistics, engineering, or probability theory.

Pre-Engineering

Through a focused study of applied mathematics, students learn to implement mathematical applications in a variety of applied fields. They also become familiar with the fundamental principles of motion, energy, and force, as well as of electricity, magnetism, and optics.

Mathematics Education

This program is uniquely designed for the student interested in teaching mathematics, whether at the primary, secondary, or college level. On top of receiving a strong foundation in mathematics, students in this emphasis also receive academic preparation for their future careers as educators. After graduation, they have the option of smoothly transitioning into TMU’s teaching credential program, which has a nearly 100% job placement rate.

Pure Mathematics

Through algebraic structures, development and theory of calculus, number theory, history of mathematics, and complex numbers and complex-valued functions, this program provide the foundation for the student interested in pursuing graduate study in the field of mathematics.

B.A. Music

The NASM accredited B.A in Music is designed for students with a musical background who desire to receive a solid education in music while also pursuing studies in other areas. Students may choose between Music, Music Production, and Modern Worship as their emphasis. The program’s diverse emphasis options allow students great flexibility in pursuing their unique interests. This program is perfect for students seeking a music-centered liberal arts education or wishing to receive professional preparation in another field while continuing to develop their musical abilities.

B.M. Music

The NASM accredited B.M. offers 9 highly personalized programs. Music, the art of organizing sound in time, is a universal language given to us by God that expresses thoughts and emotions where words cannot. The faculty of the School of Music at The Master’s University believes in the vital role and purpose of this gift and is privileged to train students to use their musical abilities to the glory of God by developing wisdom, establishing convictions and producing leaders.

B.A. Audio Production

This interdisciplinary degree offers courses in sound production and electronic communication, giving students a strong foundation in sound design, film, and music production. Students learn to work alongside fellow musicians, growing and maturing through numerous performing opportunities, and learning from premier music instructors in Los Angeles. Emmy Award-winning composers and recording engineers also infuse their expertise into this unique program. This prepares graduates for a diverse set of entertainment-related careers, as well as being equipped for media positions in churches, parachurch organizations and nonprofits.

B.A. Political Studies

Majoring in Political Studies at the Master’s University equips believers not only for productive careers in law, politics, or business but also for responsible citizenship. Through a biblical framework, professors teach small classes on the theory and philosophy of civilizations. This major also allows students the opportunity to participate in a semester-long internship in Washington D.C. allowing them a front-row seat to the inner workings of the government and opportunities for networking.

Criminal Justice

This emphasis program is currently in development and is anticipated to be available in 2023-24.

American Politics

For students pursuing careers involving elections, presidential or congressional affairs, political communication, U.S. diplomatic history, or The Federalist Papers, this program equips believers not only for compelling careers in law, politics, or business but also for responsible citizenship. Professors teach small classes on the theory and philosophy of civilizations through a biblical framework. We teach that God is sovereign in human affairs of the past, present, and future. Students may participate in a semester-long internship in Washington, D.C.. Students are mentored in the process of developing Christian philosophies of history and politics as parts of an overarching biblical worldview.

Master Of Education In Teaching

The Master of Education in Teaching is a two-year, 100% online graduate degree program designed to help strengthen teaching practice of classroom teachers. The program is designed to help teachers build on knowledge learned in a credential program and/or on the job, with courses emphasizing practical application of theory with a scriptural lens. Students will complete projects relevant to their current teaching assignment. The capstone project for the program includes a formal action research project. The program follows the cohort model, with students progressing through the sequence of courses together

The MBA is a one-year, 100% online graduate program that accelerates students with the skills and knowledge they need to be leaders in the business world.

The Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Counseling (DMinBC) is a professional terminal degree designed to encourage excellence in the practice of counseling and training others to counsel using the Word of God. The program is intended for both pastors and lay people and is open to both men and women.

5-Year B.A./M.Div. Cooperative Program

The 5-Year B.A./M.Div. allows students to receive a B.A. in Biblical Studies (emphasis in Biblical Languages) from The Master’s University and an M.Div. from The Master’s Seminary in five years, including a semester at IBEX. This condensed, academically rigorous program provides a streamlined education that allows students to graduate with less debt, while preparing them for further education, student ministries, associate pastor positions, or Christian education.

Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, & Computer Vision – As A.I technologies develop at a rapid pace, they are becoming an increasingly common presence across industries. This program equips students with all the fundamental computer science skills a top-shelf technologist needs, as well as the expertise necessary to pursue a career in developing and deploying intelligent machines. Students explore the brilliant designs of our Creator evident in the human brain, equipping them to reflect these designs when they build A.I. systems. Since they are patterned after the brain, A.I. are some of the most sophisticated systems humans have ever designed—and yet they are based on elegant and simple concepts, which means that the fundamentals are approachable for undergraduate students.
