Core Program Learning Outcomes

1. Employ the methods of science to solve research questions.
2. Employ a knowledge of cell structure and function to analyze and interpret scientific data.
3. Apply taxonomy, phylogeny, and diversification of living organisms to analyze and interpret scientific data.
4. Apply the principles of inheritance and use genomes to compare organisms and diagnose disease.
5. Integrate Scripture and science to explain God’s revealed Truth.
6. Employ mathematical tools to analyze data and solve research questions. (B.S. Core only.)

Animal Science/Pre-Vet Program Learning Outcomes

1. Analyze an ecosystem to identify relationships among organisms and that environment.
2. Analyze patterns of physiological processes to explain how various animal groups maintain homeostasis.

Minors & Interdisciplinary Studies

Most students will complete a minor in Biblical Studies by default by completing the 24 units in their GE classes and upper-division requirements across 4 years at TMU. In addition to their major, students can also complete a minor in any of these programs by completing the required 15-27 units, depending on the minor: Accounting, Biblical Studies, Biology, Business Administration, Communication, Computer Science, Education, English, History, Global Studies, Kinesiology & Physical Education, Mathematics, Music, and/or Political Studies.

Students may also take the B.A in Interdisciplinary Studies. This major allows students to design their own major by specializing in three areas of their choice, including Biology Studies.

About the School of Science, Math, Technology & Health

Amid the booming scientific advancements and the ubiquitous influence of technology, TMU trains students to be knowledgeable in their fields and capable researchers, preparing them to approach their future in STEM with an unshakeable biblical grounding and a zeal to worship God in their work.

The faculty have extensive practical experience in their fields and represent a significant body of published research. Each faculty is dedicated to the sufficiency, inerrancy, and authority of God’s inspired Word — from Genesis to Revelation. Each year, the faculty re-affirm and teach every point of TMU’s doctrinal statement, which has remained fundamentally unchanged since the institution was formed in 1927. The top-ranked School of Science, Math, Technology & Health offers 9 majors and over 35 program options across four departments: the Department of Biological & Physical Sciences, the Department of Engineering & Computer Science, the Department of Kinesiology, and the Department of Mathematics.
