Dr. John MacArthur, TMU's chancellor, addressed students on the first day of the Week of Welcome, Aug. 20.
The Master’s University recently welcomed another record-setting class of incoming students to its Santa Clarita, California, campus.
In all, 443 new students enrolled at TMU for the fall 2022 semester, which began Aug. 29. The incoming class pushed TMU’s overall on-campus population to 1,146.
This represents a 32% increase from the school’s enrollment in 2018, with net increases to nearly every major the school offers. A then-record 413 students enrolled at TMU for fall 2021.
WOW Saturday is a big day for incoming students and their families. Students move in to their new rooms, get to know campus and begin the process of making lifelong friends.
This year’s incoming class included students from 33 states and 24 countries. Overall, TMU’s on-campus population now features students from 42 states and more than 30 countries. Including record support from generous donors, TMU students received nearly $16 million in institutional aid this year, with 99% of students receiving some form of financial assistance.
The incoming students, all of whom signed a statement of faith and provided a pastor’s reference, chose from TMU’s approximately 85 on-campus undergraduate programs — all taught from a biblical worldview and governed by the school’s unwavering commitment to Christ and Scripture.
On Monday night, students joined faculty and staff in their homes for a time of food and fellowship.
Through rigorous academics and vibrant campus life, TMU’s mission is to equip men and women for lives of kingdom influence in their families, the local church and in the careers God calls them to. This training also takes place in chapel, where students gather three times each week to sit under expository preaching of God’s Word. Last year’s speakers included TMU Chancellor John MacArthur, TMU President Abner Chou, Paul Washer, Voddie Baucham, and Carl Trueman.
WOW Tuesday saw all of our new students enjoying a day at the beach.
TMU Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing Dariu Dumitru said the most exciting part of welcoming a new class of students to Master’s is reading their testimonies ahead of time.
“They spoke of their love for Christ and how He had saved them and how He’s sanctifying them,” Dumitru says. “Some students share testimonies of God’s gentle shepherding, others share of a more dramatic conversion, yet they all point to our Savior’s grace and mercy.”
One of the best parts about WOW is that it gives new students a time to get to know campus — and each other — before the rigors of academic life begin.
In recent years, TMU has added new market-relevant degree programs, opening the door for more students to receive a Christ-centered liberal arts education.
In 2022, TMU added degrees in mechanical engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, sport management, interdisciplinary studies, and entrepreneurial studies. In previous years, the school also added marketing media and classical liberal arts. Overall, TMU offers more than 150 undergraduate, graduate, online and dual enrollment programs.
Wednesday wrapped up with a time of worship under the stars.
In fall 2021, TMU enrolled a then-record 413 new students, marking the fourth straight year the school saw a year-over-year increase in newcomers.
Over the past five years, TMU has seen significant growth in the areas of finance, speech communication, mechanical engineering, history education and pre-physical therapy. TMU has also seen sustained growth in teacher education and marketing media.
The climatic event of WOW every year is The Master’s Cup, an inter-dorm relay competition.
Since 2020, TMU’s Southern California campus has seen major renovations to dormitories, classrooms, the library, and numerous student spaces.
