The second edition of “Think Biblically: Recovering a Christian Worldview,” set to be published in April, features new chapters by biblical counseling faculty at The Master’s University.
The book is a series of essays on how to think biblically about many aspects of life, from psychology and science to worship and history. These essays are written by faculty members at TMU, edited by Drs. John MacArthur and Abner Chou, and published by Crossway.
A new chapter by Dr. Shelbi Cullen, assistant professor of biblical counseling, addresses the topic of biblical complementarianism.
“The Lord did not create an identical copy of Adam; he created a counterpart for Adam,” Cullen writes. “That was his resolution to Adam’s ‘not good to be alone’ existence. The first human beings were distinct in their manhood and womanhood, and by God’s design, they were created to complement each other physically, intellectually, and morally. And God saw that it was good—indeed, beautiful.”
Another new chapter by Dr. Greg Gifford (chair of the School of Biblical Studies) and Dr. Ernie Baker (chair of TMU’s online biblical counseling program) tackles mental illness.
“Swaths of people are caught in a culture of mental health that lacks hope and any genuine possibility for change. Some are even harmed through this confusion,” write Gifford and Baker. “The answer to these challenges is not psychological advances but Scripture. Only the Bible provides the light one needs to see through the cultural fog of mental illness in a way that glorifies God and blesses people. And only Scripture can provide genuine hope for change because God, who created the mind, has provided the prescription for the suffering mind.”
These are two of six new chapters included in the second edition of “Think Biblically.” The others are chapters on science and origins (by Dr. Matthew McLain), mathematics (by Dr. Tai-Danae Bradley), and Christian liberal arts and hermeneutics (by Chou).
The book is available for preorder on Amazon.
