Prof. Hamory worked at the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center from 1987 to 2022 in the areas of instrumentation engineering and flight systems. His most recent work was with the X-57 electric propulsion research aircraft and the development of fiber optic sensing systems. He has experience with analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting, signal processing, system and sensor development, vibration measurement and analysis, and environmental testing (temperature, altitude, vibration, shock).

He also has some experience with software development, aerodynamic measurements, and thermal and mechanical design and analysis.

Phil and his wife T.J. have a daughter and son (both of whom graduated from TMU), a son-in-law (who is a student at TMS), and a granddaughter. Phil has an interest in apologetics and serves in the Evangelism Explosion training ministry at Valley Bible Church in Lancaster.
