Marius Bahnean is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities,
at The Master’s University in Santa Clarita, California, where he conducts the TMU Chorale and the University Singers, and teaches courses in conducting, music history, and aural skills. Bahnean came to TMU from Tennessee Wesleyan University (Athens, TN), where he held the position of Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities and Chair, Department of Fine Arts and Communication Studies.

A strong advocate of Early Music and Baroque Music, Bahnean performs regularly with period instruments ensembles usually conducting from the keyboard. Recent research interests include a full reconstruction of Christoph Graupner’s Passion Cantatas, and extensive research in the Medieval and Renaissance music of England. As a musicologist, Bahnean has presented interest sessions for international conferences, most recently in Brasov, Romania. He is a member of the Oxbridge C.S. Lewis Institute Choir based at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, United Kingdom. Bahnean expertly conducts both orchestras and choirs having studied under such professionals as Ivars Taurins and Jeanne Lamon of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir, Stephen Cleobury of King’s College, Cambridge, UK, Howard Dyck, John Dickson, and Alice Parker. Voice study was completed in the studios of tenor William Hite, and Grammy-Nominated Laura Pudwell. Marius and his wife Alina have one daughter.
