Mathematics Education

Program Learning Objectives

Mathematics Education is the practice of teaching, learning, and studying research into the transfer of mathematical knowledge.

1. Demonstrate a working knowledge of fundamental algebraic structures (e.g. groups and rings).
2. Demonstrate a working knowledge of number theory and a familiarity with the history of mathematics.
3. Demonstrate a basic working knowledge of the nature and applications of discrete structures.
4. Demonstrate a basic mastery of the principles of Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries.
