In addition to the core courses, each student must choose one of the following emphases.
An interdisciplinary course designed to provide the student with the analytical tools and concepts for dealing with practical “everyday” problems.
This course is a study of discrete structures commonly used in computer science and mathematics, including topics from sets and relations, permutations and combinations, graphs and trees, induction, recursion, and Boolean Algebras.
This course is designed to acquaint the student with the widely known theorems, conjectures, unsolved problems, and proofs of number theory.
This course presents the basic techniques for the efficient numerical solution of problems in science and engineering. Topics covered may include solutions of equations in one variable, interpolation and polynomial approximation, numerical differentiation and integration, differential equations, and solving linear systems.
Mathematics Core Program Learning Outcomes:
See the BA in Mathematics Degree Checklist for complete details.
To graduate, students must complete a minimum of 121 semester units of credit to graduate, including a minimum of 40 semester units in upper division courses and all General Education (58 Units) requirements, which includes the Scripture Set (21) and Worldview and skills set (37).
The Biblical Studies minor requires 24 units of coursework. Most students typically complete these courses as part of their standard four-year degree plan. The classes include:
In addition to their Mathematics major, students can also complete a minor in any of these programs by completing the required 15-27 units, depending on the minor: Accounting, Biblical Studies, Biology, Business Administration, Communication, Computer Science, Education, English, History, Global Studies, Kinesiology & Physical Education, Music, and/or Political Studies.
The Master’s University (TMU) Mathematics program equips students with a robust foundation in logical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis. It is grounded in a biblical worldview and prepares them for diverse, high-demand careers in STEM fields.
