Liberal Studies students acquire familiarity and fluency across diverse fields, spanning English, history, science, and philosophy. Rooted in Scripture, our program empowers students to analyze any subject with a biblical worldview, honing communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills. Rather than being confined to a single area, students have the freedom to explore multiple interests. This program is particularly well-suited for transfer students due to its flexibility. Whether students prefer to focus on career-oriented classes or develop versatile soft skills, the options are abundant. The paths chosen by liberal studies graduates are as exceptional as their individual journeys throughout the major.
The Liberal Studies major is designed to offer the student a broad, interdisciplinary program of study, the epitome of the liberal arts education.
Major units: 15-30 units are required in each of the following four subject areas (for a total of 84 semester units across the four areas, with at least 24 upper division units across the four areas):
a. English/Communication
b. Social Science
c. Mathematics/Science/Computer Science
d. Humanities/Fine Arts
A total of 121 units are required for the B.A. degree, of which at least 40 units of the 121 must be upper division.
All G.E. requirements apply per the catalog regarding Scripture Set, Worldview Set, and Skills Set. Courses used to fulfill G.E. requirements may count as major units in their respective subject area.
ED402 LS Senior Capstone is a required course and must be taken during the student’s senior year. Additional elective units are required to reach the 121 unit minimum (minimum 40 upper division).
A teacher education emphasis prepares students to teach in the classroom.
