The Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling program at The Master’s University is in partnership with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) to guide each student through all three phases of their certification process, so that they can obtain certification by the time they graduate.

• Articulate—with appropriate biblical support—key components and distinctive principles for counseling individuals.
• Demonstrate the ability to interact with scripturally based conservative theological doctrines to functionally derive effective biblical counseling theory and methodology.
• Meaningfully and insightfully differentiate and critique various Christian and secular counseling theories and methods and compare them with the fundamental assumptions of biblically based counseling.
• Use proper interpretive tools and correct hermeneutical principles to accurately exegete biblical passages for counseling purposes.

• Discern and evaluate a person’s character, mental processes, and behaviors from a biblical anthropology.
• Demonstrate the ability to counsel and disciple individuals using biblical principles and effective interpersonal skills within the context of the local church.
• Apply the principles of progressive sanctification in his/her own life, seeking to model holiness and spiritual growth to his/her counselees.
• Demonstrate the ability to conduct and communicate graduate-level biblical research that includes application of those principles for practical ministry, particularly in the field of biblical counseling.

The Care of Souls Conference exists to present a system of biblical truth that brings together people, their problems, Scripture, and the living God. It is based on the convictions that (1) God’s Word should be our counseling authority, (2) counseling is a part of the basic discipling ministry of the local church, and (3) God’s people can and should be trained to counsel effectively. The Care of Souls Conference is intended for all of God’s people, whether they be pastors, elders, or male/female lay people.
