Three times each week, TMU students, faculty, and staff gather for a time of worship and teaching in chapel. We were blessed this past Friday morning with special guest Matt Redman.

The author of “10,000 Reasons,” “Blessed Be Your Name,” and other modern hymns led music, and shared a short message about the nature of worship. He reminded our campus community that our God is majestic and holy beyond anything we can imagine. Matt Redman’s burden is to recapture the essential element of wonder in our modern worship, and he encouraged us to fight against both our external culture and our inner struggles and strive for godly awe.

He closed our time by leading us in his favorite hymn, “How Great Thou Art”—a song that begins, “O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder / Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made . . .” It was a fitting capstone to the morning.
