The latest issue of The Master’s Seminary Journal features two articles from members of The Master’s University faculty — one by Dr. Abner Chou, TMU’s president, and one by Dr. Jason Beals, Bible professor.
Chou’s article is titled “All That Is in a Name: Daniel’s Deliberate Christology and The Concept of the Son of Man.” In it, he examines the use of “Son of Man” as a title for the Messiah in the Book of Daniel and later revelation.
He writes in his conclusion, “Daniel’s Christology illustrates the sophistication of theology in the Old Testament and that the prophets were theologians in their own right. They wrote theology and did so cohesively and with complexity, one that thoroughly shapes later revelation.”
Beals’s article, titled “The Second Adam and the Necessity for Eschatological Earthly Dominion,” discusses how Jesus will succeed where Adam failed in fulfilling mankind’s task to rule over the earth.
“Jesus Christ as the last Adam must rule in righteousness, peace, and harmony as the Davidic King over the earth, to the ends of the earth, exercising dominion over everything in the earth including geopolitical realities and the animal kingdom,” Beals writes. “Anything short of this necessary earthly kingdom reign leaves a global hole in the biblical storyline and a gap in the reversal of Adam’s failure.”
