A 2022 study examining the 200 largest cities in the United States ranked Santa Clarita, home of The Master’s University, as the country’s ninth happiest city.

According to SmartAsset, the financial advisor marketplace that ran the study, the project “looked at 13 different metrics across three categories: personal finance, well-being and quality of life.”

Santa Clarita excelled in the “quality of life” category, aided by a low poverty rate and a high percentage (53%) of married residents. The article also states that Santa Clarita had the seventh lowest violent crime rate study-wide.

Santa Clarita was one of six California cities placed in the top 10. The article notes this trend, saying, “Specifically, top 10 California cities had lower percentages of people living in poverty, higher marriage rates and lower violent crime rates.”

TMU moved to its current campus in Newhall, California, in 1961. When the city of Santa Clarita was formed in 1987, Newhall was the oldest neighborhood to be incorporated.
