Important Dates to Remember

Graduates who are approved by the Registrar to graduate will receive details on these special dates via their student email. 

*Graduates who return their contracts after this date will be not guaranteed to be in the commencement program 

Commencement Practice

Friday, May 3

Location: TMU MacArthur Center (Gym), 10:00am – 11:00am

This is a MANDATORY event for all graduates. We will walk through the entire event. This is your opportunity to ensure your Dean will pronounce your name correctly. After practice, your professors have a special farewell reception with refreshments.

Line-Up for Commencement

Friday, May 3

Location: TMU MacArthur Center (Gym).

Please be in line BY 6:30 pm. You will be handed a name card. DO NOT LOSE YOUR NAME CARD! You will give your name card to your dean as you approach them on stage for your name to be read as you cross the stage. Do not fold the card. Do not have anything else in your hands (other than a hood for master’s programs). Please leave any possessions that do not fit into pockets with your guests.

You won’t have bathroom access for at least an hour, so plan accordingly.

Tickets and Parking

Tickets and Parking Passes for graduates are available for reservation beginning March 18th, 2024.

Tickets for faculty, staff and non-graduating TMU students will be available beginning April 22, 2024. Check your Master’s email for the TMU Anncouncement.

TICKETS

•  e-Tickets are required for entrance. No physical tickets will be provided. If you did not receive a confirmation with e-tickets, please contact .
• Limit of 10 tickets per graduating student.
• One ticket required per seat.
• Children sitting on a lap or in a stroller not need a ticket.

PARKING

• Parking passes must be purchased for every vehicle.
• Student, Faculty & Staff 2023-2024 TMU parking permits will not be valid during commencement.
• Handicapped parking and entrance will be along the south side of the field.

Commencement Regalia

Regalia will be distributed to students at the Alumni Grad Dinner on Tuesday, April 9th.

Graduates who were not able to attend may pick up their regalia from the Registrar’s Office during these hours:

• April 19: until 4:30pm
• April 22-26: 9am – 4:30pm
• April 29 – May 1: 8:30a – 4:30pm
• May 2: 8:30am – 5 pm
• May 3: Closed. Remaining regalia will be brought to Commencement Practice.

Regalia care:

• Hang up your regalia immediately, or hang it in the bathroom to steam while showering to get rid of wrinkles. When using an iron, use LOW settings.
• Caps are worn parallel to the ground with the tassel on the right.
• Graduate level hoods will be carried over the arm until you are hooded on stage by faculty.
• All regalia is yours to keep!
• Decorated caps & leis are not allowed.
• Robe Care – DO NOT iron. Steam and hang with care as soon as possible (no later than the day before).
• Caps – No decorations on graduation caps.
• Attire – Sunday best. Keep an eye out for the weather. It may get chilly at night.
• Shoes – Turf field. No flip-flops or stilettos.

How do I get a ticket?
Graduate – Starting March 18th, graduates who are approved to walk in the Commencement ceremony will receive an email from the Registrar with instructions on how to obtain tickets for your family and friends. Each graduate is allowed to reserve up to 10 tickets before April 22. Graduates who are walking in the ceremony do not need a ticket. Tickets requested by graduates after April 19th will be subject to availability.

Parents/Guests –  Your graduate will receive an email with ticket instructions after they are approved to walk by the Registrar.

Faculty/Staff – Tickets will become available Monday, April 22, 2024
TMU Student (not graduating) –  Tickets will become available Monday, April 22, 2024

How do I access my tickets on Eventbrite?

Check the email on your order. You should see an email from Eventbrite that says, “You’ve got tickets!”

• Computer: Click on “Go to My Tickets” and click on print
• Mobile: Click on “Go to My Tickets” then select the event shown. Then, you will see the option to print tickets.
• Please note: Eventbrite will resend your tickets two days before Commencement.

What if I need more than 10 tickets?
With a larger graduating class, each graduate will be limited to 10 tickets each. Extra tickets will not be available.

Where do I park?
Graduates will be given one free parking space near the dorms. Parking for guests at all other lots will be $10. Handicap parking for cars with a designated placard is available for free near the Athletic field (reservations recommended).

What do I wear to the Commencement Ceremony?
Graduates – Sunday best. No stilettos or flip-flops. Be sure to check the weather, as it gets cold on field in the evenings. No decorations are allowed on your graduation caps. Be sure to steam and hang your robe (do not iron). Leis or any additional garments may not be warn during the ceremony.

Guests – We request that you do not wear stiletto heels to preserve the athletic field. We recommend that you dress for cool weather, as it does get windy and chilly on the field in the evening.

Does TMU allow graduation parties on campus before or after Commencement?
All of our staff are focused on getting ready for Commencement. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to set up and clean up graduation parties. We recommend contacting local restaurants, hotels or the graduate’s church to host small groups. Unsanctioned events on The Master’s University premises will be asked to leave.

Do I need a ticket for a child sitting on my lap or in a stroller?

No, you do not need a ticket for children sitting on a lap or in a stroller.

How do I schedule Cap & Gown Portraits?

All the graduates have received an email from Ultimate Exposures to schedule an appointment for portraits. Photos will be taken at TMU in the MacArthur Center Lobby.
