I was born and raised right here in Los Angeles, just 15 miles south of TMU. I grew up in a solid Christian family, and attended Grace Community Church where I first heard about The Masters University. I had a difficult decision to make my senior year, as many of my closest friends had committed to attending various other Christian schools in the area. It was difficult to part ways with friends I had grown up with since childhood, but I knew that choosing TMU would mean I would get the highest education possible, with the basis of that education rooted in God’s Word.
It wasn’t long before I saw the impact of that decision. The Lord used the four years I had here to shape my worldview and strengthen my relationship with the Lord through chapels, professors, late night hang outs in the dorms, etc. I also have a repertoire of crazy stories from life in the dorms that I’ll have to share with you in person!
After graduating in 2012, I married my amazing wife Raqel, and we moved down to North Hollywood where we both worked locally. In Summer of 2015, Raqel accepted a position back here at TMU as a Resident Director. It wasn’t long before I realized that I also wanted to work on campus with students. I’m so excited for the opportunity to build relationships across the country, and to watch students come enjoy the same experience I was able to have while being here!
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Matthew 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
I love this verse, because it’s a daily reminder to be a consistent representation of Christ, so that others might see my life and know that it’s only through God’s work on my heart!
What’s your favorite local place to eat?
Eat – Kinza Sushi
Drink – House Roots Coffee
What’s your favorite spot on the TMC campus to hang out?
My apartment of course!
What are some of your hobbies and/or interests?
I love watching/playing hockey. I’m also a very average surfer.
What is your favorite coffee drink?
Oooh that’s a tough one. I’d say espresso, pour over, or 1 and 1 (single shot of espresso, next to an additional single shot with a little steamed milk. Mmmmm)
