The Master’s College’s John Gilbertson finished with the fastest time out of a record field of 682 runners in Thursday’s three-mile race at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Calif. Gilbertson’s time of 15 minutes, nine seconds placed him comfortably ahead of second-place finisher Falco Digiallonardo, who came in at 15:28.1.

The series features male amd female runners from high school, college and post collegiate runners. Last week’s race was believed to be the largest turnout for a summertime “all-comers” cross-country event in California history.

Gilbertson will be a senior when the cross country team begins its season on Sept. 8 at the U.C. Irvine Invitational.
