What do I do if I can't get my laptop to connect to the projector in the classroom?

There are a variety of reasons why you may not be able to get your laptop to connect to the projector, but here are a few things you should check immediately:

1.  Check the KVM - In every classroom, there will be a small box (called a KVM switch) that has two buttons labeled "Desktop" and "Laptop."  Make sure that the "Laptop" button is pressed.

2.  Check the Cables -  Sometimes, a cable may look plugged in but may not be in all the way.  Make sure that the cables are indeed in as far as they can go.

3.  Check the input - Using the projector remote, press the "Input" button to make sure that the Laptop Input is selected on the Projector.

4.  Check your Computer Display - Make sure that you duplicate or extend your screen so that it will show up on the projector.  

If, after checking all of these options, you are still unable to connect to the projector, please call the IT Service Desk at (661) 362.2876.

 

What type of media is available in my classroom?

For student presentations, each classroom at TMU is equipped with a VGA adapter and audio for you to connect your laptop to the projector.  Some classrooms on campus (such as the English/History Center and the Science classrooms) are equipped with HDMI.

For computers that only use Mini-display port, it is recommended that the student purchase their own Mini-display port to VGA adapter to have available.
