Santa Clarita, Calif. – After falling to conference rival San Diego Christian College on Saturday evening, The Master’s College Mustangs (10-7) bounced back and swept La Sierra University (2-9) 25-20, 25-15, and 25-20.
Right out of the gate, the Lady Mustangs got on top of the Golden Eagles 3-0 in the first set after a kill by Allison Child (Shingle Springs, CA) and a pair of attack errors by Robyn Miller. Child led the way for the Lady Mustangs’ offense with 19 total attacks and 10 kills on the night.
In the second set, the Lady Mustangs were able to score first off a Golden Eagle error and led the set until the opponents delivered a turn around and went up 6-4. Faulty mistakes led the score to lock at 6-6 and paved the way for Brittany Jones (Northridge, CA) to smash back-to-back kills, putting the Lady Mustangs up and eventually run away with the set.
After falling behind 3-2 in the third set, Child smashed another kill while Olivia Gwinn (Santa Clarita, CA) dropped in a pair of service aces to go up 4-3. La Sierra couldn’t take the lead or tied the score from there.
On the evening, Aubrey Bekendam provided big support for TMC in the win with match-leading 29 assists and nine digs.
The Lady Mustangs look to take their win up north to a struggling William Jessup University (0-12) Friday afternoon in Rocklin.
First serve is set for 4:00 PM
