PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Master’s College volleyball team made its presence known in the Valley of the Sun as they swept the Arizona Christian University Firestorm Saturday afternoon.
With the win, TMC’s overall record improved to 17-10 and 7-5 in GSAC play.
The first set started with TMC falling behind 4-0. Cassidee Angangan (Cutler, CA) turned things around by smashing her first of six kills. With TMC leading 8-7, the Lady Mustangs cruised to a 22-7 lead after scoring 14 unanswered points. TMC finally took the set at 25-10.
In the second set, the two teams battled back and forth as six lead changes kept each team on their toes. The set was won by the Mustangs as four different players smashed kills. In the 25-21 victory, TMC’s Allison Child (Shingle Springs, CA) posted seven kills.
The third set was all TMC as Angangan opened up the frame with a kill, leading to a 25-14 win. Notably, TMC didn’t let the Firestorm tie or take the lead in the third frame.
Statistically for the Lady Mustangs, Child had a team-high 11 kills and 21 attacks, while Ashley Kuhlman (Henderson, NV) notched a .769 attack percentage. Aubrey Bekendam (Orlanda, CA) assisted on 25 kills, and Emily Clark dug a team-high 10 balls.
