SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – TMC volleyball lost a quick three-set match to No. 4 Biola in both teams' Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) opener (13-25, 23-25, 13-25) Saturday evening in Bross Gym. The loss snapped a seven-match winning streak and dropped the Lady Mustangs' record to 13-2 (0-1 GSAC).
As a team, the Lady Mustangs notched five blocks and twenty-five kills. Sam Dougherty (Madera, CA) led TMC with seven kills, followed by Rachel Taylor (Sun Valley, CA) with six.
TMC fell behind early in the first set as the Lady Mustangs’ defense couldn't match Biola’s offense, dropping the set 13-25.
The second set started with TMC showing why it is ranked 13th in the nation as the two teams stayed neck-and-neck until the end when Biola's Amy Weststeyn sealed the match with a kill and ended the set to the tune of 23-25.
With two sets in Biola's column, the Lady Mustangs weren't able to pull out the final set and fell to the Eagles 13-25, concluding the day's match.
TMC looks to rebound and secure the first GSAC victory of 2012 on September 15 at 7:00 PM against Hope International at Bross Gym.
