FULLERTON, Calif. – The Mustangs’ aspirations for reaching .500 in the Golden State Athletic Conference were set back as TMC dropped their second straight conference game. This time, the Royals of Hope International University (7-4-1, 1-2-1) delivered the Mustangs their seventh loss of the season in a 2-0 match on Saturday afternoon in Fullerton.
The Royals, who notched their first conference win in Saturday’s match, struck 11 minutes and 33 seconds into the action, when HIU’s mid-fielder, Mario Perez, beat TMC’s goalie, Andrew Bussel (Bakersfield, CA), for a 1-0 lead.
Thirty minutes into the second stanza, HIU’s Karlo Soto-Castillo was on the front end of the next Royal goal, feeding Matthew Howard for the match's final score.
Despite outshooting HIU 9-8, the Mustangs offense gave the Royal’s goalkeeper a light day by failing to score a shot on goal.
Looking to rebound off of Saturday’s loss, TMC (5-7, 1-3 GSAC) returns home to Reese Field in a 3:00 PM match on Wednesday against the GSAC’s second place club, Vanguard University (4-5-2, 201 GSAC).
