LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Thane Ringler (Hutchinson, KS) recently competed in the inaugural 2012 Patriot All-America Invitational held at the Wigwam Golf Resort in Litchfield Park, Arizona, and finished tied for 46th out of a field of 84 competitors.
The five-day event, which ran from December 27-31, featured PING All-Americans from the 2011-2012 season in NCAA Divisions I, II and III. All-Americans from the NAIA, NJCAA and AJGA also competed in the invitation-only event.
Ringler shot a 15 over-225, and notched 30 pars, 14 bogeys, seven birdies, and one double bogey along the way. Ringler’s play was highlighted by a solid two-over 72 on Monday, sandwiched by a disappointing six-over 76 on Sunday and a poor 77 on Tuesday.
Assessing Ringler’s performance, Mustang coach Jason Semelsberger stated, “Things didn't go the way he [Thane] wanted, but we're still very proud of him.”
The Golf Coaches Association of America awarded Ringler a spot in the invitational in the wake of his stellar 2011-12 campaign, in which he earned first- team honors on the 2012 NAIA Men’s Golf All-American list.
