"It's A Blessing To Be Here"

Military Students

Our Military Student Advancement Office aims to serve students in their transition into civilian and student life. Beginning with a unique orientation session that works within WOW, we are here to support students by promoting community, fellowshipping and offering encouragement as they become familiar with The Master’s University. Through special events and forums, we seek to provide opportunities for involvement in all areas of the campus. Whether students have served in the military, are serving, planning to serve, or involved in a ROTC program, we seek to be a resource during their time at TMU. Our office is also available to assist the students in answering any questions they may have regarding military educational benefits, such as the GI Bill and Tuitions Assistance.

Veterans, as well as their family members utilizing GI benefits, are being encouraged to consider The Master's University as their school of choice. To help promote awareness that TMU accepts VA educational benefits, TMU established a Military Student Advancement Office in the fall semester of 2010. This outreach is designed to assist veterans who are considering TMC as well as those who are applying, as they work through their applications and the process of obtaining their VA benefits. Once they arrive to campus, the Military Student Advancement Office aims to smooth their transition into civilian and student life, offering support where needed and building a cohesive military community through regular events and programs.

The Master's University is approved as a degree-granting institution for the attendance of veterans under Title 38 of the United States Code. This primarily includes the Montgomery GI Bill and the new Post 9/11 GI Bill, as well as provisions for transfer of entitlement of benefits to spouses or children. The Post 9/11 GI bill applies towards tuition and fees, provides a book stipend, as well as a housing allowance. In addition, TMU participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program under the Post 9/11 GI Bill.  TMU will contribute up to $10,000 towards tuition per year resulting in 100% coverage of tuition costs.

Distance learning courses are available for those seeking to pursue a thoroughly Christian education while still on active duty. TMC currently accepts tuition assistance from the Air Force and Army. The Master's University is currently pursuing ways to serve military chaplains through special training or additional education.

The Master's University has developed relationships, or "Cross-Town Agreements" with other major state universities. This agreement is designed to allow a student to attend The Master's University while participating in ROTC at the local major university.

The Master's University currently has relationships with the Army and Air Force at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), the University of Southern California (USC), and Loyola Marymount University (LMU).

Mentorship from student veterans is promoted to prepare ROTC cadets for the challenges of military life as Christian leaders. Opportunity exists for ROTC cadets interested in chaplaincy to continue onto seminary before entering active duty or reserve status.
